Growth in Boone

When I first moved to Boone - nearly 30 years ago - the town was under the rule of aldermen who wanted to see the town grow as fast and as big as it could. A few years later a new town government took over. This group grew to believe that Boone could only be preserved if its'  growth was stunted. During the past election the town reverted to those who would see fast growth in the town. It seems  that neither course has suited the people of Boone. It seems the town fathers should try something in the middle. Responsible growth with some preservation of the essence of Boone.

The Left Endangers Children

   There are among us now many leftist social justice warriors. These folks are of the opinion that no one, especially them, should hear, or see, or be exposed to any speech, activity, or symbol with which they do not agree. Anything which violates that rule is considered a "microaggression" by the warriors and should be suppressed by the government and they should be provided with "safe places" to go to so that their tender feelings might be soothed. This is a small minority of people you say. Unfortunately, you would be wrong. Our college and university campuses are filled with these people, both students and faculty and administration. A MAJORITY of  students believe the 1st amendment right to freedom of speech should be suspended so that the government can ban speech which the warriors find offensive. They believe that men charged with sex crimes on campus should be denied due process and convicted on the word of the complainant. The Department of Education through its' Office of Civil Rights is responsible for this perversion of justice. As troubling as all this is, the thing I find most troubling is the Social Justice Warriors believe that no one is truly male or female - they  believe that there are transgenders who appear male but identify as females, females who identify as males, females who identify as males yet are sexually attracted to males, males who identify as females yet are sexually attracted to females, males attracted to males, females attracted to females and, what they call queers, folks of both sexes who don't know which sex they belong to or identify with. The Social Justice Warriors believe that the civil rights of all these people must be enforced and that any failure to cowtow to their every want  is a "microaggression" which should be a crime. Here is where our children are in grave danger. What the Warriors and the "sexually confused" want most is coed bathrooms and showers so that males who identify as females can share bathrooms and showers in our universities, public schools, and all other public places with females. And visa versa concerning all the different sexual orientations mentioned above.  Now you think I am crazy, and that surely no such thing is going on in our country today. Many states and cities have already passed non-discrimination laws allowing this craziness - make yourself aware of what is going on right  under our noses.        

Whitener leaves Foxx

   Aaron Whitener has left Congresswoman Virginia Foxx's office. I understand there are no bad feelings involved. Aaron has a new son - Wesley, and he is looking for a job with more predictable hours. I am told he is in the insurance business.

Republicans fail to file

   Word is the Watauga County Republican Party is in deep trouble with the State Board of Elections as a result of its' failure to file the necessary paperwork concerning its activities and money raising during the past cycle.
